A Primer on Narratives and Narratite.
Narratite is a substance formed when the Avenger stood against the chains of Fate and slew the Force of Fate, which was thought to be impossible. The breaking of a Force shattered all set paths, allowing time to branch forth from Ithia. In death, Narratite leaked forth from Fate, tainting several timelines, primarily the one named Bastille. Pure Narratite is indestructible; it bolsters, alters, magnifies, or otherwise changes the attributes of items exposed to its radiation, and exposure to beings or objects that have a soul or full personification can gain Narrative powers.
Those afflicted with Narratite gain powers but are also made beings known as Narratives. Narratives are extremely difficult to fully kill, at least until their narrative purpose in time is complete. Believed to be the spirit of Fate manipulating the story even in death, Narratives will almost always come back if their story is incomplete, making containment of Narratives the more long-term solution to killing. Narratite exposure seems random, at least to mortal eyes, and some believe those gifted with powers were chosen for a story’s purpose.
Narratite exposure can cause dangerous shifts in personality, minimizing some personality traits, twisting social skills, and otherwise twisting one towards archetypical heroes, villains, or various wildcards. Some Narrative geniuses such as Overwatch and Mr. Fade have figured out how to apply Narrative abilities more accurately with minimal threat but primarily use this knowledge for their own purposes.
Narrative power: almost all narratives have some degree of enhanced durability, strength, and agility, with bodies physically superior to normal people. Many Narrative abilities further boost these base attributes, making men terrifyingly durable, agile, and/or strong.
Several Archetypes of the old world have been exposed, such as the Avenger, adding to the chaotic power scaling of these deadly souls who, in addition to the Narrative attributes, often reincarnate back, keeping previous Narrative powers and all of their skills and knowledge. Narrative Archetypes are some of the most dangerous Narratives, often compounding abilities over their multiple lives, reaching incredible raw power bound with refined skill. Though certain non-Archetype Narratives can still pose threats to even the most powerful Archetypes.
