*The Celestials or Coelestis Exercitus, servants of the Gods are divided into Solnatus who serve the Seir’Ald, Orbisliberi who serve the Powers, and Astrumortus who serve the Fates.
The Astrumortus of Carabella are the Hippocornasusataur, Cara-Horses, or shortened C-Horses. It’s advised not to confuse C-Horse with Seahorse, as seahorses aren’t horses at all. These strange creatures are roughly the size of a cat and generally embody the key features of a Hippocampus, Unicorn, Pegasus, and Centaur, with a large fish tail, the forebody of a horse, wings, an elven torso and head, and a large unicorn horn. In addition, C-horses have little wings above their hooves. C-horses have larger eyes than the elf, large equine ears instead of normal elven ones, though theirs taper to sharp points and are generally well versed in Horse Code, the formal body language of the equine and the basis of non-verbal communication among mortals. Their fish scales can come in any color, and their equine bodies take on normal coat colors. Their wings are colored to match their coats with a higher shine. They can incorporate features from any mythical horse, equine, or giraffe since Cara stole them from Dreous. Arch-Coelestis gains a halo and tends to encompass mythical horses more directly.
Hippocornasusataurs are strong Coelestis serving as the workhorse of the Coelestis hosts. They are extremely strong, able to fly, swim, and horse about with at least five times the strength of a standard horse. They can move at five times the speed of sound, though this can take a full minute of straight movement to achieve. They can hover, project their voices, and turn into any horse-themed creature. They can generate an aura of elemental music, causing people to join in song and dance numbers as needed.
The Hippocornasusataurs are servants to the will of Carabella, working as messengers for messages she doesn’t feel are important enough for her to handle herself. They do labor-intensive tasks for the gods and other Coelestis, serve as mounts, are gifted to heroes as companions, provide music for important battles and heroic actions; they also try to provide sound effects for drama and, with their short attention spans, are generally silly horsefish.
The Hippocornasusataurs are doomed to the whims of Comedy, loyalty, and are especially vulnerable to slapstick. One who can manage to catch and shoe one is said to make them lifetime companions and gain a very grumpy horse god’s vengeance. They are deathly afraid of glue and know, deep down, that everything wants to eat them.
The Hippocornasusataurs come in levels of power and status, including Sleipnir, Arvakr, Diomedes, Chitu, and Bucephalus.
Sleipnir: Arch-Coelestis of the Hippocornasusataurs.
-Sunshine the Silent: This Sleipnir stands with a coal-black coat and dark skin with chalky white handprints covering her body, positioned to give her a skeletal appearance across her mostly centaur body. She stands in eternal black-and-white silence, unable to make noise. She has a rusty halo of knives, stripped down to their tangs, forged together into a jagged, floating circlet. Sunshine can summon text cards that appear when she needs to express herself but is physically unable to make noise. She embodies silent films, centaurs, and serves Zatolen as his personal messenger.
-Appaloosa the Appley: This Sleipnir has an appaloosa coat and mostly a centaur body. The small spots that cover her white are apple-shaped and colored accordingly. She has a halo of applewood charcoal bound around a crystal apple. She is a great cook and loves showing off her food. She is one of Cara’s favorites, Sleipnir, and least liked, as she reminds her of apples, which Cara loves, but makes her hungry, which Cara dislikes. She embodies cooking and food media, normal horses, and serves as the personal messenger of the True Mother.
-Midnight the Rain: This Sleipnir has a dark, bruised purple coat. Her mane is done up in a mohawk, and her face is done up in goth makeup. She wears high leather boots over her forehooves and has a long black-and-red hippocampus tail. Her wings have skull-shaped spots, and she wears intricate black dresses. She has a halo of skulls with their mouths stitched over and connected by gemstone mohawks and golden piercings, circling a small iron maiden. When running, six additional shadowy legs appear, making her appear like an eight-legged horse. She embodies countercultures, the divine Sleipnir, and serves as Sultria’s personal messenger.
-Louve the Paint: This Sleipnir is mostly a centaur with a coat of a paint horse. She has large wings with feathers that spread in a gradient of colors, like mixing colors on a palette. She is often seen in beautiful, intricate makeup, colorful, distinct outfits, and tying ribbons across her body, so her movement is full of color. Her horn curls around and is generally shaped like a paintbrush. She has a halo of ribbons twisted together into a knotted rainbow that circles a palette. She embodies painting, Unicorns, and serves as Zale’s personal messenger and gossip buddy.
-Ironshod the Barded: This Sleipnir has a full gunmetal coat with spots that look like blood spray. The largest of the C-Horses, with bladed hooves and teeth like Diomedian Mares. She has a halo of swords that angle in so their tips touch, supporting a brazier melting a crown of conquered gold. She embodies war stories, Diomedian mares, and is the personal warhorse and messenger of Ondra Seir.
-Uniform the Stained: This Sleipnir has a pure white coat that shines like polished pearls. She has six wings of silver and sunlight, a horn haloed in a starburst of gold, and hair like spun electrum wire. A cloak of golden fire coats her, and her great hooves crush the impure beneath her. Her main Halo is a floating set of rings of stained glass that paint her white coat in a brilliance of color, and its gleaming quality casts them out to the world around her. She represents divine mythos and its art. She stands for the Pegasus and serves as the personal messenger of Mealis.
