The Factions of the Dead Age.
The Ruththall.
‘Tradition and the Unmoving Line.’
The Divinity of the Trinity of the Keeper, Evergreen, and Miecara led the people of Axandria for thousands of years. The addition of the God King and the Crimson Goddess, and their pantheon of divine followers, tainted the original vision but also brought it power. It was a rise of humanity, humanity first, and then with the death of the gods, the beliefs changed. The Astarte Party deemed that all would bow, and thus Cardinal Trevor Ruththall, Ninth Cardinal of the Keeper, revolted against the harms performed on his fellow man. He seized control over the blessed orders, had the Divine Speaker imprisoned, spoke out against the Astarte Party’s breaking of the very basis of Axandrian culture, and when martyred gave birth to the Ruththall rebellion. Entire battalions deserted the Astarte cause; armed fanatics, angry mobs, and holy orders rose up to fight a corrupt government that shed the blood of a holy man. They fight for their gods, they fight for tradition, they fight for Axandria’s very soul with righteous fervor and divine mandate.
Ruththall is the only faction besides the Astarte that maintains a strong foothold on Axandria Proper. A collection of holy orders, pilgrims, fanatics, and defectors of the Astarte military, they are well-armed, well-motivated, and walk with the Gods at their side. They are the unified force of the Gods hammered into an unbreaking spear to thrust at the black heart of Evil.
Ruththall power is divided between the Cardinals of the Trinity, Knight Masters of the Holy Orders, and various officers who defected with troops to join the cause. One of the more stable factions, with a stable power succession and easily replaceable leadership. No man is greater than another.
Ruththall holds large armories, munition plants, heavy industry of the Lands of Maria, and large swathes of forces dedicated to their divine mandate. They are a theocratic state with local governments allowed to continue their rule so long as they don’t go against the teachings of the Trinity. They hold a large selection of holy warriors, brothers and sisters, clerics, and can disable most spell casters, summon angelic servants, and command blessed fire. They are the second-most powerful faction, nearly equal to the collapse of Astarte.
