Outsiders of Ithia Expanded: The Sand Wraiths, the Guards of the Underworld.

*The Celestials or Coelestis Exercitus, servants of the Gods are divided into Solnatus who serve the Seir’Ald, Orbisliberi who serve the Powers, and Astrumortus who serve the Fates.

The Orbisliberi of Dreous are the Sand Wraiths. These living entities of bleached-white sand serve the God of the Dead and are tasked with preventing the souls of the dead from escaping the afterlife. Sand Wraiths compress their mass into sandstone when wishing to be solid, but generally expand themselves into living clouds of sand in humanoid shapes. When humanoid bodies, the hooves of a camel, a mixture of a hand and a leopard paw, the skin of a rhino, the tail of a hippo, and the head of various beasts, each with a different role. When fully materialized, they wear armor of sandstone delicately carved with reliefs of beasts and men. Greater Sand Wraiths tend to be larger, sport multiple heads, and arch coelestis gain orbiting pyramid gemstones, gold-capped sandstone, and beast masks.

Sand Wraiths are walking sand and are immune to most physical attacks as steel either passes through them, bounces off their reinforced sandstone, or sinks into and catches in it. They can reassemble themselves when sand is removed, though burning or wetting their mass can cause damage. Sand Wraiths with the head of an Ibis can touch incorporeal creatures and are tasked with capturing lost souls, Crocodile heads grant increased mass, and the power to shape and command sand and earth not of their body, Cow or Bull heads grant the power to call forth rain and draw forth water from deep below the sand, manipulate water into whips or divine succor for lost, Lion heads can summon mummified warriors, mend flesh, and are great warriors, Hippo heads grant the greatest mass and strength of the Sand Wraiths they project fear and terror in their wake, Cobra heads grant the power to raise barriers of sun and moon light, possess great wisdom, are incredibly swift, and sport deadly venom, and Jackal heads grant power over Golden flesh eating scarabs, the means to summon condemned spirits to fight on their behalf, and the power to destroy undead with a touch of their sacred hands.

Sand Wraiths are servants of Dreous working as Guardians, Guards, and Keepers of the realm of Viwrath, the lands of the Dead. They can be summoned to provide protection by divine casters of Dreous, they seek souls that have escaped Viwrath, and serve the general will of the great Dreous.

Sand Wraiths are vulnerable to fire which can kill the divine spirit held within, water can make it hard for them to move and if saturated parts of them often collapse under its weight trapping their wet mass against the floor. Those powerful enough in the arts of manipulating, bending, and controlling the earth can dominate Sand Wraiths.

The Sand Wraiths were formed at levels of power and status, including Hierophant, Mystagogue, and Attendant.

The Hierophant; Arch-Coelestis of the Sand Wraiths.

Akil al-nur: The Hierophant of eternal rest, the eater of conscious light, the Voice of Dreous. Akil al-nur has three Jackal heads, a halo of scarabs, and a uraeus of pure sunlight and absolute darkness. Chief of the Hierophant.

Wahid min Aldhahab: The Hierophant of earthly treasures, blessings of the dead, and burial gifts. Wahid min Aldhahab sports the head of a jackal flanked by an Ibis and a hawk. Made of gold dust with a sun disk, and an orbiting halo of coins imprinted with scarabs, cobras, and jackals.

Sayyidat Alghubar: The Hierophant of returning to dust, ash, and sand. That has been reduced to the finest materials. Sayyidat Alghubar sports the three lioness heads, each circled by pyramids of gold-capped sandstone, clouds of dust of gold, silver, and embers.

Al-Na’im: The Hierophant who oversees all the dead as the governing authority of the spirits of the dead. Al-Na’im has the heads of a hippo, a crocodile, and a lion. His halo sports the Scepter, Feather, Crook, and Flail.

Aladhi Yashihu: The Hierophant who oversees souls’ progress towards reincarnation, working with other gods to cycle souls into the overall system. They have the heads of an Ibis, a Bull, and a Ram. His halo is backed by the Ankh, around which orbits a microsun pushed by a golden scarab.
