Writing Worlds with Words

Dead Age – The Orders of Orthodoxy.

Weaponized Faith – The Brothers and Sisters of Axandria.

There are those who draw power from faith, who summon light and mending from Gods gone by. The Brothers of Silence and Sisters of Sorrow are worshippers not of any petty god or bloated power, but they serve and worship the very ideology of the Astarte Party. They are enforcers of its tenets and a distillation of its purpose.

The Orders maintain the ethos and standards of the Astarte party, weeding out those who stray from its tenets. Though they, too, have been turned to the chaos of a collapsing empire. The Orders train in hand-to-hand combat, various weapons, and the manipulation of pure true faith in the Ideology. They wear black-and-white jumpsuits, often covered with heavy linen robes, with lead weights packed between the layers. Applied over the shoulders and easy to remove, these robes are to help passively build strength.  Brothers shave their heads and bodies, while sisters are allowed to keep their hair; some still fully shave their bodies and heads.

Equipment and Skills of the Orders.

The Brothers of Silence are trained to project their Presence, attacking foes with the very energy of their soul. Allowing them to punch energy clean through armor, walls, and shields, and greatly increasing the reach of their strikes. They are fast enough to catch bullets, able to project the oppressive power of the Astarte to silence speech and disrupt magic with pure willpower. They can run on water, up walls, and under ceilings. Eject all foreign and impurities from their body and break their foes apart from the inside out.

The Sisters of Sorrow are trained to control the ebb and flow of their Presence, wear heavy armor, and wield blunt force weapons with deadly purpose. They can mend wounds, absorbing the pain and channeling it into their weapon strikes, returning the pain of the just to the wicked or projecting it towards foemen with righteous fervor. They can channel the will of their dead gods to channel divine fire, repel undead and outsiders, and summon forth Aspects of War, Order, and Control. They balance life and death in their hearts.

Hierarchy and Structure.

The Brothers and Sisters follow a simple hierarchy structure.

The Father and Mother lead the Orders.

The Venerated Brothers and Sisters are elite leaders of the order and are often assigned to guard the Royal Palace of the Holy Heirs, taking roles such as Lovag (Knights), Kez (Hands), Pajzs (Shields), and Kereso (Seekers).

The Honored Brothers and Sisters are veteran members of the Orders serving as minor leadership.

Brothers and Sisters are the general membership of the Orders.

Acolytes and Initiates are trainee Order members learning dogma and practicing combat, those who cannot rise to full Brothers and Sisters are not allowed to leave the orders and instead serve the Order in other functions from scribes to janitors as the Orders do not allow outsiders into their sacred havens.

Purpose

The Orders are directed to silence dissenters, correct or remove ideological corruption, and maintain the Astarte Orthodoxy. They are dogmatic servants of the fallen God King and Crimson Goddess. They are meant to serve as the corrective hand, the incorruptible, those who remove the cancer, but in the empire’s decline, much of this has fallen to the self-service of the rest of the Party.
