Factions of the Dead Age: The Demos.

The Factions of the Dead Age.

The Demos.

‘In Pursuit of Liberty.’

The Demos is a gathering of various small nations pursuing a breaking away of old aristocratic chains, the whips and jackboots of authoritarianism, and the weighted soul of theocrats. A collection of free states, frontier settlements, militias, seditious Astarte veterans, rebelling states, and wealthy citizens with private armies. Demos pursue a world of freedoms where there are no kings, dictators, or authoritarians.

The Demos maintains most of its power on the continent of Talis Vrok. A coalition of organizations with a unified congress of leaders to sort out policy, treaties, and territory. There is little infighting, but politics can get vicious between factions.

The Demos power is divided among its member states, organizations, and militias. Some major players include President Korovein of Saritova, Colonel Gustav of the Rogue Astarte 6th Brigade, Alexander of the Society of Dreamers, Markov of the Society of Heralds, Carmine of the Brain Trust, President Amerigo of New Margo, President Silvana of Ferra, and Luke of the Light Guard of the Keeper.

The Demos maintains a loose alliance of groups that uphold local and agreed-upon common law. They drove the Astarte forces from Talis’Vrok, leaving only several heavily fortified ports and strongpoints as the only real presence. They maintain individual sovereignty but combine their military strength against Astarte threats.  They have seized Astarte armories, repurposed military factories, and Astarte forces who have turned traitors to secure passage for their families to escape the party’s iron grip. They have psionics, mages, and armor with heavy rapid industrialization, allowing them to produce weapons of war above the other factions, but with being primarily on the frontier, they have limited manpower.
