Writing Worlds with Words

People of Taurus: Halder.

The Halder is a highly isolationist, militant, theocratic state. A lone single system power that has managed to make the cost of conquest unfeasible for galactic powers. They broke the CPA advance, denied the Griel, and drove off the Centian. Specializing in magnetic project weapons such as railguns, sonic weaponry, and infantry armor, the Halder secure their boarders with large anti-ship jump-rail satellites capable of firing asteroids at near FTL speeds, massive planet-side disruptor cannons, and inhibitors that block out psionic and magical abilities.

The Halder originate from the world of Ithia and drove humanity from the planet. Tribes rose and joined beneath the pantheon of the Blood Drinker, Mountain Lord, Storm Driver, and Eye of Fate. Both males and females average 6 feet in height. Males have stronger upper-body muscles, while females have stronger leg muscles. Halder have dark to black skin, black, brown, or blonde hair, and eyes in violet, red, orange, or yellow. Halder have long ears and fluffy tails that match their hair color. They have a powerful jaw with sharp buckteeth perfect for breaking apart gourds and tearing through hardy root bulbs.

The Halder have a vertical jump of forty feet, have devastating kicking force, are stronger, faster, and more agile than humans, their bodies, when injured, produce a cocktail of adrenaline and natural anesthetics, and their skin produces an oil that causes their blood to rapidly coagulate when the two meet, making them able to stand and fight through mortal wounds. They have incredibly strong hearing, smell, and taste. Halder do not fear what is here, but what comes next, and most Halder will die rather than surrender. Believed to be one of the most terrifying species to fight in combat as they soar through the air, clawing, biting, and kicking their foes to death when their vicious weapons are unavailable. Halder can channel their faith to combat the evils of magic and psionics, locate individuals, and purge pain and fear. Halder genetics are prone to rapid mutations, granting unnatural powers perceived as blessings from their gods.

The Halder are a highly militant theocratic state led by the priests of the Pantheon. They live simple lives with cities built for people who have little need for stairs. Halder hop through life pursuing the glory of their gods, producing more than they take in, training in prayer, swords, and their iconic railguns. The Halder do not surrender, they kill, or they die. There is no in-between. A few Halder have left the Theocratic State, consumed by a rare but overwhelming wanderlust.
