The Griel are a highly advanced people who lead the Griel Collective, the seat of civilized species. The Griel Collective is led by elected officials, representatives of lesser species, and professionals and intellectuals elected by their peers. They have a large defense force, as well as social and political power. The Griel are a self-selected galactic policing force having struggled to maintain peace in its time.
The Gallus originates from the world of Gallak. Once apex, predators developed innate empathic abilities, which led to a civil revolution. They remain expert warriors, peacekeepers, and diplomats. Males, though extremely rare, average 5’5 feet tall, while females average 5’3 feet tall. Griel have white, grey, or black skin; they have scales and feathers with coloration. Females have blue, red, violet, orange, gold, and silver scales, while males have green, brown, or white. Griel have hair that grows out from under a crest of feathers, and it comes out like strands of silk in colors of gold, silver, blue, and green. Male Griel grow horns and have a ridged head crest. Griel tend to take on physical characteristics of other species they’re around, allowing them to appear attractive to most species.
The Griel are all naturally psionic, primarily empathic, but have a higher average of psionically capable population than most species. They have biomorphic abilities that change their appearance to blend in with nearby species, become genetically compatible with most species, and shift compatibility with various augmentations.
The Griel Society is post-scarcity and highly militarized against threats from Merko, Centian, and Khant aggression. They regularly ascend species into the Collective, adding diverse species to fill niches and give species a chance to rise and thrive free from their home world. The Griel have highly advanced computer systems, AI, SI, FSI, and translation systems. The Griel created the first FTL drive, though this is disputed by the Arkayian, and shared this technology with many species.
