Core Pact Alliance Ship Classification.

Core Pact Alliance Spaceship Class Designations.

Capital ships.

-Dreadnaughts; Dreadnaughts are primary capital ships serving as battleships, carriers, and communication centers manned only by the highest-ranked admirals of the CPA. They have heavy, long-range weapons, large complements of fighters, bombers, and landers, and are often used as staging points for ground invasions.

-Carriers; Carriers are less armed than Dreadnaughts and Battleships, with a focus on shields and point defense systems, relying on fighter and bomber wings instead of heavy weapons. Carriers are powerful assets that are solid force multipliers.

-Battleships; Battleships are large, powerful ships focused on armor, shields, and overwhelming weaponry. They are aimed at battering enemy shields, bombing stations, and leveling planetary assets.

Warships

-Destroyer; Multirole ships serving as the mainline warships of the CPA. Destroyers are a balanced mix of point defense, heavy weapons, and often small fighter slingshots. They have heavy sensors and command suites, serving as a more cost-effective force projection than ships like Battleships and Dreadnaughts.

-Cruisers; Cruisers are primarily focused on countering smaller fighters with heavy point defense systems and heavy missile systems. Cruisers have specialized sensors that detect smaller heat sources than most large ships, allowing them to detect missiles, fighters, and some stealth systems.

-Controllers; Controllers are lightly armed ships designed to serve as light carriers for small fighter and bomber craft or as drone ship hives. They generally lack heavy weapons and are generally only light armed with point defense weapons.

-Frigates; Frigates are lighter vessels designed for escorts, patrols, and defense forces. They are often the most cost-effective way to project force into occupied sectors. They often have exterior fighter docks; frigates are the lightest ships to sport any heavy weaponry.

-Corvette; The smallest ship classified as a ship of war and serves a range of roles, including patrol ships, missile boats, and strike craft. In battle, they often serve as picket ships, forming protective lines of point-defense systems to protect larger ships.

Armed Support Ships

-Brig; A Brig is a small armed ship for patrolling secure areas, defending small assets, driving off fighters, and providing support to law enforcement. Some Brigs are used as heavy landers, patrol ships, and heavy gunships. They are small enough to move between the vacuum and the atmosphere with ease.

-Cutter; Cutters are small ships with a focus on speed and armaments. They are powerful interceptors primarily used by law enforcement to combat smuggling and territory invasion. Cutters are sometimes deployed against hostile species who rely heavily on fighters, as Cutters’ combination of speed and heavy weapons makes them a heavy interceptor that can quickly overwhelm most strike craft.

-Patrol Ship; Patrol ships are small support craft designed for long patrols across secure spaces. Exclusively used by law enforcement to secure borders and patrol against criminal activity.

-Gunship; Gunships are heavily armed and serve as heavy fighters in vacuum and close support ships in atmosphere. Gunships do not have the speed for dogfighting and need the support of larger ships or ground forces providing protection with point-defense systems to be effective in battle. Some gunships provide heavy support to law enforcement.

Strike Craft

-Fighters; Fighters are primarily focused on engaging and combating other strike craft. Heavier fighters sometimes have weapons for dealing damage to large ships whose shields have been disabled. Fighters are for securing space and protecting bombers and large ships.

-Fighter Bombers; Fighter Bombers are multi-role strike craft attempting to combine the agility of a Fighter and the Anti-capital ship capabilities of the Bomber, muddying its abilities and giving it dominance in neither role.

-Bombers; Bombers are often equipped with heavy munitions for combating larger ships, but are often less effective unless shields have been disabled.

-Interceptors: Interceptors are strike craft for high speeds and overwhelming firepower. They dive hostile strike craft and overwhelm them in hails of weapons before disengaging and outrunning their foes to find new targets.

Support Ships

-Dropships; Dropships are heavily armed and armored ships designed to land ground forces under fire while providing support, and creating beachheads.

-Landers; Landers are larger vessels for moving land forces, supplies, and strike craft between ships and planets. Often, lightly armed or entirely unarmed meant for secure areas.

-Logistic Ships; Logistic Ships are vessels for moving supplies, replacement vehicles, and personnel to ships, providing repairs, heavy sensor suites, and other utility roles. The most varied role of ship in the CPA.

-Science Ships; Science Ships are vessels for exploration, investigation, studies, and analyzing enemy salvage.
