*The Celestials or Coelestis Exercitus, servants of the Gods, are divided into Solnatus, who serve the Seir’Ald, Orbisliberi, who serve the Powers, and Astrumortus, who serve the Fates.
The Solnatus of Az Fan and Dil Fan are the Sandmen. Sandmen are creatures of sleep, dreams, and nightmares. Half serve Az Fan and the other Dil Fan. They’re made of soft shadow, elongated arms that drag along the floor with a bag on strings carrying their sleeping sand. They have eyes like the embers of a dying fire, wear cloaks of sewn-together blankets, and never move while observed. They have no facial features except for their eyes.
The Sandmen can move between the plane of the Undermare, where closets and underbeds all connect. They can slink through any crack in a door and hide beneath rugs. They can influence dreams, walk in them, and enchant sand to use sleep.
The Sandmen are creatures of sleep, slinking out from beneath beds and out of closets to sprinkle sleeping sand on mortal eyes to help them enter deep sleep. They help guide dreams: those aligned with Az Fan promote positive dreams, and those of Dil Fan promote nightmares and night terrors. They help mortals work out subconscious thoughts.
The Sandmen come in ranks of Status and Power, including Morpheus, Stiltskin, Hypno, and Sleepkin.
