The Astrumortus of Bellagran are the Riverie beautiful creatures of soft blue-green flesh, with light scales along their necks, cheeks, and arms, the rainbow shine of abalone shell. They wear dresses of water, woven reeds, and duck feathers. They are strange and inhumanly beautiful, haunting creatures that flit through woods around rivers. They are known to carry great urns of magically pure and sterile water.
Riverie are creatures of fresh water, flowing rivers, and deep wells. They command fresh water, mud, and plants that live on or under water. When threatened, they can drag their attackers into mud, bind them in reeds, and drown them in water. Riverie can turn themselves into water escaping threats by melting into their home water. Salt is a bane to them.
Riverie in lands where Kappa have been driven away, they keep wetlands, rivers, streams, creeks, lakes, ponds, and wells clean and orderly. They supply Eur Chara with the water to feed her Shrouds and spread cleansing rain across Ithia.
The Riverie comes in ranks of Status and Power, including Lady of Lakes, River Nymph, Maiden, and Maid.
