Bokoku’s main body is the entire archipelago of northern Dodicerous, Home of the Ashike people. Bokoku’s spirit form is a great serpentine dragon with a face for each island in the archipelago, beautiful, smiling, inhuman. She flies through the sky on scales of sumac, ochre, and gardenia, which are the primary sacred colors of the Imperial Rule. Each of her faces has a mane of fox fur, a dual-toned mask of two contrasting koi, and wings of cranes running down her serpentine body.
Bokoku is both a loving mother, a figure of discipline, and one who motivates her mortal children towards honor, destiny, and greatness of the Ashike people. She is said to have given the first Vigint Emperors the secrets of the three sacred dyes and, emerging from the sea, to give them a crown of steel, blood, and salt. She embodies the authority of the Imperial Rule, whereas Hagane embodies the power of the Shogunate.
