Cultures of Ithia: The Klemant.

The Klemant people originating from the Lands of Maria, a joining of Lorkrathi and Lumanian  people known for their nomadic lifestyles they journey the lands. They have olive skin, bright pink eyes, and black hair with colorful roots coming in bright blondes and reds. The Klemant do tend to be overly attractive stemming from two of their founders being a demi-god daughter of Vexia Katar and the demi-god son of Fineth. They travel in small groups in caravans traveling across Dophia, Mariland, Kaidia, and Dodicerous.

The Klemant enjoy hearty stews, soups, kebabs, tarts, dumplings, and stuffed cabbage and peppers. Some of their staples include potatoes, bell peppers, garlic, and pickle a lot of their food. Much of their food is foraged or bought as they are landless wanders. Few find uninhabited land and settle until once more driven from the land. They rely heavily on paprika for seasoning. They serve coffee, tea, or Muterdo Sax with food. Klemant avoid eating food prepared by non-Klemant and do not eat food they consider unclean such as horse, cat, dog, frog, snake, and peacock.

The Klemant are nomadic people, traders, entertainers, free spirits, and survivors. They travel the lands some providing services, entertainment, and trade to the lands they cross though they have developed negative connotations often being seen as thieves and general negative elements.  They do their best to survive in a place where they have endless places to go but nowhere to stay. The Klemant are great storytellers and often have strong connections with Bau’Nur, Vexia Katar, and Mire.

The Klemant believe in freedom, in evading the stranglehold of serfdom, the whips of slavers, the greed of kings. They travel the lands doing whatever it takes to survive without causing undue harm to those around them. They are often persecuted by local lords and blamed for any disaster or crime due to their eternal outsider status though some do turn to theft to survive.

The Klemant are all travelers and traders and have acquired the benefit of working with the Markorathi in forming land caravans to help move goods across the Dophian land with the Markorathi providing security.

The Klemant are a small minority culture having been driven from their original lands in Lumania. They have limited treaties with the Markorathi but have too little to be targeted by other cultures and no lands to conquer.
