Creatures of Ithia Expanded: The Mantigladio the Fae Mantis.

An Advanced Creature Profile by Vincent Groth.

The Mantigladio are feminine Fae standing roughly twelve feet tall when standing straight. They have flat smooth faces with small bumps for noses, large black eyes, and small lipless mouths. They have petite upper bodies often white with yellows, pinks, and purples. Their lower halves are that of a mantis with bladed arms and long striding legs. They have short wings, and their limbs end in frilly sails that when they fold their bodies make them look like the giant flowers found native in the Order Court.

The Mantigladio are deadly warriors of the Order Court able to hack through flesh and bone with their deadly blades. Their wings don’t allow actual flight but help augment their leaps and allow them to slow falls and short distant gliding. They are very agile overwhelming most foes with the speed of their strikes.

The Mantigladio serves primarily as riders in the Honey Hunt and general hunters, warriors, and light calvary for the Order Court. Mantigladio can blend into the Order Court as they resemble the giant flowers that naturally grow there and thus can serve as concealed watchers and ambushers.

Like most Fae Mantigladio are eternal and if their mortal body is destroyed, they will reappear at their designated bed. They never age and remain appearing as fresh adults, or whatever age they choose to appear as. The Mantigladio are patient hunters normally relying on quick single strikes to silence their foes. Their limbs are thin and fragile. Their bodies have natural, poor endurance, making extended combat a poor choice.
