Gods of Ithia Expanded: Gilfjord the Drowning Love.

Gilfjord: God of Loves Lost, Loneliness, Widows, and Envy.

Known across the plane as Gilfjord, The Lovelost, The Widower, Widowed,The Envious Gaze, The Bearer of the Golden Apple, The Heartbreaker, The Solitary, The Golden Son, and the Drowning Love.

Gilfjord is a member of the Fated Crown, The Gods of the Mind, Gods of the Sea, and The Drowning Gods.

Holy Books: The Book of Crowns.

Gilfjord is all that we love and have lost, he is the stabbing pain or drowning numbness, he is flesh carved by tears, he is the shedding of the shackles of loss and pain and finding a new path. The Son of Zale and Zatolen.

His Symbol is the Bleeding Heart – A Heart impaled upon a dagger blood runs off it, one side has gone necrotic.

Gilfjord when active on Ithia, is represented by the Bleeding Sky a haze of blood red nebula which paints the celestial bodies looking as if they run with blood. It paints the oceans red and weighs on all below like a blanket of lead.

Gilfjord’s divine plane is a grand palace of polished coral and river rock, conquered ships stripped down, sanded, stained and arranged into walls. Hearts and skulls decorate walls and there is a constant distant beating like a distant leviathan heartbeat. What windows exist show the dark waters of the oceanic trenches.

Gilfjord maintains the Golden Apple an eternal regenerating fruit that those who eat from it will relive whatever lost love or fading love they wish. All the trials and triumphs, the lows and highs, ever fading kiss and flaring romance.

Gilfjord is tall, handsome, and terrifying with skin that swirls like tentacles in pale and bronzed flesh forming patterns of hearts and skulls. His fingers laden with rings and fingers that end in talons. He lives his shirts open, and his chest bare showing off lean muscle and a gaping wound where his heart would be bleeding black blood. His face is hauntingly beautiful crowned in golden hair his left eye is a void bleeding a slow constant stream. He has a long tongue and deep in his throat tendrils writhe. He embodies the tragic loss of beauty, the death of wives, husbands, children, and friends.

Gilfjord is a bittersweet god, a coin flip, one moment a perfect lover caring, compassionate, all delicate pleasure seeking to give more than he receives and then in the blink of the eye as cold and uncaring as a corpse. He is chaotic, envious, and manic save for when it comes to Widows. Widows are his to protect and love and can often find this deity seeking to guide them through healing. He grants his divine servants the power to red personalities, calm waters, sooth or enflame loss, love, or pain. They can summon fire, create darkness, and control water.

Gilfjord is worshipped by widows, by those who are consumed by loss, and those with unrequited desires.  He is worshipped in household shrines and in the hearts of his followers. Statues of him sometimes appear on shores or sand bars in harbors. He accepts sacrifices of blood, tears, saltwater, tentaculars, creatures from the deeps, and the hearts of beasts.
