*The Celestials or Coelestis Exercitus, servants of the Gods are divided into Solnatus who serve the Seir’Ald, Orbisliberi who serve the Powers, and Astrumortus who serve the Fates. 

The Orbisliberi of Avernus are the Pit Keepers, Doom Hawks, or the Custos Foveae. These massive birds of fire with beaks, talons, and bones of gold, silver, iron, or steel and eyes of gemstones. Hearts of coal compacting to diamond pulses in their burning breasts. Wreathed in fire from invisible in light to black that drinks in light. Each one stands as big as an adult dragon and radiates heat and power. 

The Pit Keepers are powerful Coelestis Exercitus wielding soul fire that can wound anything mortal, divine, or undead. Powerful flyers and master pyromancers. They are immune to fire magic and most physical damage. They can divinely judge character, repel good or evil, and bind one from movement between the planes of existence.  

The Pit Keepers as one of the creator level Coelestis Exercitus they are powerful creatures and are tasked with keeping the Pit where many of the physical bodies of the Seir’Ald are kept imprisoned. They are few and their leaders stand in power with the lesser gods.  

The Pit Keepers are powerful, durable, and deadly efficient but should their hearts be removed or broken their fire will fade until Avernus can reform them to a new stone.  

The Pit Keepers come in levels of power and status including Warden, Keeper, Jailor, Guardian.
