An Advanced Creature Profile by Vincent Groth.
The Kittails are feminine fae standing two feet tall. They have bark growing across much of their torso and limbs, long wooden tails tipped with that end in cotton, clouds, or dandelion fluff that also serves as their hair. They have skin that mimics the coats of cats though only their necks and faces are visible when not shedding their bark coats at the start of spring. They have large catlike ears, bright cat eyes in shades of pink, red, and purples, and sharp fangs and claws made of polished wood.
The Kittails have natural armor in the form of bark outside of Spring when they molt it and shrug off all the iron and other serious injuries they acquired over the year. This shedding is a refreshing of the Essence and no wound or Geasa remains after their shedding. Though for the springtime the Kittails are physical vulnerable. The Kittail claws and fangs break off when piercing the flesh where they quickly start to take root burrowing slivers deeper into flesh. Kittails are extremely agile and flexible and to the best of Groth’s understanding they can turn almost liquid squeezing through spaces far too small for the bones they should have.
Kittails are servants of the Wild Hunt not serving as riders but following along as fast as any fae mount following scents, hunting, pouncing, and serving as proverbial hunting cats. When not on a hunt Kittails are often kept as companions and guardians by other Fae.
Like most Fae Kittails are eternal and if their mortal body is destroyed, they will reappear at their designated bed. They never age and remain appearing as fresh adults, or whatever age they choose to appear as. The Kittails are most vulnerable during Spring but their bark skin starts to dry out during Winter which causes them to be particularly vulnerable to fire. They dislike water, axes, and termites all in equally great measures.
