A Primer from Tir Ore on the means and ways of combating the Fae. 

Iron, Iron is solid, Iron is Mortal, born from the maternal earth forged by a mortal man grown and shaped by the hammer of life and lives until it rusts away to nothing. Iron kills the magic; Iron can even disrupt magic from the Gods to some degree. 

Silver, Silver is pure, softer than the vice of Iron but tarnishes all the same with its own mortality. Silver kills the body. Even a blunt blade of silver can cut Fae flesh. Silver embodies the will of Mealis and Paladar empowering it with Order and Purity. 

Rowan wood embodies life and death. It is the tree of the Cycle and protects and wards off deathless creatures such as the Fae and Undead. Rowan can be shaped into protective talisman, charms, and are burned on pyres to protect the souls of the dead. It also is often placed across buried corpses protecting the dead from necromancy. 

Hawthorne stand as portals between the Faelands and the Mortal world. Some embody pocket planes where Fae live outside of the Faelands. Hawthorne embodies the binding of the Eternal and Temporary. A Contradiction which allows it to be a deadly weapon against both Fairy and Mortal Magic. Hawthorne is the chosen tree of Zale and thus it is used with the blessing of the owning Fae as a symbol of eternal love in the mortal world. 

Blackthorn makes up the protective qualities of the fairy forts. To the Fae they are solidity incarnate and hit fairies with far greater weight and solidity than they possess on the mortal coil. Blackthorn gives solidity to the Fae portals making boundaries that allow easier access between the Faelands and the Mortal ones. 

The Salt being the blessed mineral of Mealis can disrupt Fae like most outsiders and undead. Lines of salt cannot be easily crossed only by powerful of Fairies.  

Adder Stones, stones that have naturally worn holes in their center hold strange unknown powers against the Fae. Some believe these holes are formed when the mortal reality and fairylands rub together and reality attempts to mimic the hole that leads through. True Adder Stones are magnetic not only to Iron but all pure metals. While most Fae find it hard to approach fairies attuned to metals such as the Iron Brei are far more heavily affected by its warding powers.  

Mistletoe fresh will until it tries capture the attention of a fairy. They seem mesmerized by the parasitic plant. The fairy will remain trapped until the mistletoe dries out, its line of sight is broken, or one is brave and or foolish enough to kiss it.  

Yarrow flowers are specific to repelling of negative aligned fairies such as Ruin, Death, and Chaos. They attract the positive aligned fairies of Order and Creation and especially Life. 

Nightshade flowers are specific to repelling positive aligned fairies such as Life, Creation, and Order. They attract the negative aligned fae of Order, Ruin, and especially Death. 

Rue and Rosemary both have fae repelling qualities when rubbed on skin or on doorways, gates, and other entrances.
