Creatures of Ithia Expanded: The Bugbear.

An Advanced Creature Profile by Vincent Groth.

The Bugbear stands seven feet tall, a mass of hulking muscle, fur, and muddy brown flesh with strange stone scabs speckling them like freckles. They are made from a brown or black bear, can reproduce, and can’t function outside of the Horde. They have thick fur on their heads, neck, shoulders, chest, and entire back. They have functional hands tipped with claws that do limit their actions like overly long fingernails.

Bugbears are the most common true threat of the Goblins physically stronger than an the average Ork they maintain some minor instincts for combat, hunting, and foraging as the rough memories of their families bear origin lingers in their mind. They have highly pronounced canines, large sharp claws, and blood that naturally seals their wounds.

Bugbears serve as heavy muscle, shock troops, bodyguards, and professional brutes. They’re the kind of stupid that is difficult to trick or persuade. Once given orders they’ll follow them to the bitter end.

Bugbears are limited in their rather dim natures; they lack creativity and aren’t good at problem solving. They excel at following orders and are vulnerable to heat and fire.
