Creatures of Ithia Expanded: The Bugaboo.

An Advanced Creature Profile by Vincent Groth.

The Bugaboo stands nine feet tall, a mass of hulking muscle, fur, and muddy brown flesh with strange quartz scabs speckling them like freckles. They are made from a grizzly bear and the blood of Haltheris, they can’t reproduce and can function outside of the Horde. They have thick fur on their heads, neck, shoulders, chest, and entire back. They have functional hands tipped with claws that do limit their actions like overly long fingernails.

The Bugaboo is a rare species of Goblinoid a natural war leader, able to teleport short distances into the bodies of goblins they’ve drunken the blood of and marked. They can cast magic fueled from the life support of goblins they’ve marked. Bugaboos are covered in thick hide difficult to pierce without weapons of war and their thick, rough fur provides some protection as well. They’re strength is great and only cyclops, giants, and the highest tiers of troll can match them in physical ability.

Bugaboos are leaders of the Goblins keeping them in line and organizing the teeming hordes of the Goblinoids. Due to their highly territorial nature towards other Bugaboos they never work together and the limited numbers that exist must be kept apart.

Bugaboos have little in negative traits but while extremely clever and decently intelligent they tend to get tunnel vision when developing relationships best referred to as nemeses. They seem to be drawn to adversarial relationships such as these and take a strange interest in hostile social dynamics. They are known to draw out these interactions letting their foes live far longer than needed. Bugaboos are vulnerable to extreme heat and fire.
