Writing Worlds with Words

Gods of Ithia Expanded: Talisman the World Bearer.

Talisman. Goddess of Innocence, Compassion, Mercy, Imagination, and Self Sacrifice.

Known across the plane as Talisman, Talikosa, The Keeper of Innocence, The Divine Compassion, The Imaginary Friend, The First Fate, The Blessed Mercy, The Hope in Dark Places, The World Bearer, and The Little Conscience.

Talisman is the Leader of the Gods of Mercy, The Seers, and the Gods of Growth. A member of the Fated Crowns, The Dragon Gods, Ladies of Life, The Muses, and The Gods of the Common.

Holy Books: The Book of Crowns, The Immortal Scriptures, and The Book of Scales.

Talisman is the firstborn of the Fates she spends much of her time tending to the lost innocence of grown-ups in her divine plane. She is one of the three gods capable of seeing the future and of them is the best. Talisman’s ability to perceive the future beyond the comprehension of other Gods extends to her the ability to sometimes, accidentally, slip through time which is difficult for the Gods and more so with Septriss’ protections against it. Talisman’s selflessness has led to her taking on the pain caused by healing, though some of her servants take it on themselves unwilling to hurt their holy patroness. At least according to the beliefs of Zatolen she may be the strongest of the Gods. Her powers when angered greater than even Zatolen’s. She is the loving mother of the Red Dragons as well as the Red and Blue Elves.

Her Symbol is the World Bearer – Two pale hands holding up the flat expanse of Ithia.

When active on Ithia, Talisman’s Celestial Body is the Northern Muse. A Star that is always north of the viewer. A large gold and pink strobing light that Talisman attempts to keep always active. Always a guiding light for the lost.

Talisman’s Divine Realm is a large room with shelves upon shelves, its full of antique furniture which always resembles the viewer’s childhood safe place. Here toys that embody the lost innocence of adults are kept and cared for by Talisman. Her children and orphans, stray animals, and lost souls dwell here as well cared for by the Goddess of compassion. It is a cozy place, worn, warm, and it always feels like home.

Talisman being slightly clumsy and a little forgetful doesn’t maintain any divine artifacts due to the higher risk of losing them to the mortal world.

Talisman is beautiful, like the nostalgia of a first love. She is shy often trying to make herself appear smaller, shorter than most of the Dragon Gods with long pink hair, one bright eye with the other black with a pink ring. She often wears layers of clothes or ones that are extra concealing and when with mortals often appears their age and species. Her right eye, black and pink, burns with enough Falmill that its burning ring of pink is visible even when eyelids are closed, though her mending presence prevents any permanent damage. Talisman avoids laced shoes as for whatever reason they always end up untied the moment she stops watching them. When portrayed she is normally found partially hidden behind Vutha, Zatolen, Ondra Seir, and/or Mealis.

Talisman takes the form of a Dragon when she wills it and is worshipped in this form by the Dragons as Talikosa. She is the largest of the Dragon Gods after Talcor a great hulking amethyst pink scaled dragoness. She has horns that curve out and around forming half hearts on either side of her head. She is large enough to swat down first-generation dragons like the Mother Hen.

Talisman is shy, anxious, timid, and highly compassionate. She often tries to make herself look small, position herself behind those she is comfortable with, and keep her body covered up as much as possible. She is nervous but her compassion is greater and will rush to the aid of those in need no matter how bad it makes her feel. She accepts into herself all the pain people, beasts, and animals feel so that they can know that someone out there understands what they’re going through. Talisman seeks out the lonely appearing as imaginary friends to help them develop social skills in a safe controlled way. Though she doesn’t push people out of their own comfort zones. She pursues life with almost childish abandoned, with wisdom forged from the physical and emotional pain of a world, and undying care. She rescues injured creatures and nurses them back to health, she seeks out those no one else wants or can find nowhere to go and accepts them into her home sometimes even when she’s not strictly supposed too. She grants healing that causes no pain, save to Talisman, the power to preserve the dead, reduce or slow aging, cause flowers to bloom, restore fertility, break curses, lay undead to rest, speak to animals, summon the childhoods of targets and gain insight from them, and some of her most powerful divine followers gain some semblance of future sight.

Talisman is worshipped in less than formal ways she dislikes the idea of a large group of people worshipping her and has them instead spend an hour on Lilysday helping their communities and those in need. Most worshippers of Talisman maintain small private shrines or build community centers where gathering, communing, and enjoying the company of loved ones is worship unto her. She accepts sacrifices of old toys and clothes children have outgrown which she mends, refreshes, and gifts to mortals in need. Talisman has no Saints as she’s often too shy to speak to mortal adults.
