Dodicerous is one of the few places where civilization has not forced out the nature spirits. The Vigint have let the Fae maintain their ties to the land across Dodicerous and as such it is a strange fantastical place where the Faelands have warped the creations of the Gods. Dodicerous is home to an assortment of creatures unique to its fae-touched lands.
The Northern Tengu live in settlements built on terraces around mountain peaks, Northern Tengu are spirits of Ambition. They are highly civilized with a developed culture. The Northern Tengu are humanoids with large wings, black feathering, and red skin with large tusks, short horns, giant rounded noses, large yellow eyes, and pointed ears. Their hands end in sharp curved claws. They strike terror in the hearts of any who challenge their authority.
The Avenging Tengu are nomadic by nature, they travel as spirits of Vengeance, often in heavy armor, have blood red skin, their wings they carry mantled around them like a great cloak and their head plumage resembles a hood showing only the deep black eyes and long pointed nose. The Avenging Tengu cannot fly without a large amount of excess lift. The Avenging Tengu seek out those full of righteous fury for vengeance who are unable to handle their problems and aid them in their endeavors.
The Cloudwalker Tengu are majestic, proud, and spirits of Pride. They wear beautiful, traditional, noble clothing made of the finest material and heavily decorated. They are the shortest species of Tengu known for their stilt heeled shoes, extremely long rounded nose, elongated ears, bright red skin, and snow-white hair. Their black wings have a raven shine to them. They build their cities on top of the clouds they can walk upon. Cloudwalker Tengu are the highest Tengu culture but are the least martially capable. They handle Eur Chara’s duties here where her influence is unwelcomed.
The Southern Tengu are savage, vicious, and near monstrous creatures who stalk the Ring of Fire in the center of the mainland of Dodicerous. They are spirits of Wrath with black furred bodies, long grey birds, wrinkled red faces with short, hooked noses, and ragged wings.
The Deepland Tengu are native to the southern reaches of Dodicerous where the Lyngurd dwell. These spirits of greed have a primate-like body with too long arms and shorter legs. They have long almost banana-like noses, long oval shaped heads with short, pointed ears. They have short wings which they use to glide down and drop on top of prey. They drag their prey back up trees or cliffs and hoard anything shiny they might have.
The Wellwater Kappa are spirits of Wells and are the most civilized of Kappa. They are full humanoids with froglike heads, large wide eyes, and large mouths. They keep small settlements in carved out caverns at the bottom of wells and keep the water clean, plentiful, and flowing.
The Clearwater Kappa are spirits of Rivers and Lakes, the largest of Kappas their sized based on the body of water they embody. They have large eyes, sharped beaked mouths, hollowed heads full of sacred water. Their large hulking shells are jagged and stonelike allowing them to curl up in semblance of stones. Clearwater Kappa are friendly when their waters are clean and pure but become more feral and aggressive the more polluted their waters become.
The Lilypad Kappa are spirits of marshes, wetlands, and swamps. These Kappa are humanoid froglike creatures with large forearms and webbed hands which they use to tread water expertly. They have long black hair which they keep covering their eyes, long tongues, sharp teeth, and lily pads on top of their head. A hole in the lily pad and the top of their heads holds water. They feed off hazardous insects and invasive species.
The Starling Kitsune are the rarest of the Kitsune and only three exist at a time. When one dies another Kitsune ascends to Starling status. Marked by their ten tails, large black eyes with purple irises, colorful hair, and large pronounced fox ears. Starling Kitsune are powerful spirits of magic and embody the energy of the Stars.
The Kitsune are spirits of magic embodying the energy of the Moons. As they continue to live, they gain in power starting at one tail and at the peak of their power possessing nine tails. They have small fox-like ears, orange fur tipped in white, and colorful hair.
The Low Kitsune are spirits of magic embodying the energy of the flesh. They are restricted to a single tail and have short fox ears, and black and white fur. They are the weakest of Kitsune and are often pressed into serving other greater Kitsune.
The King Oni are the largest of Oni known for their ivory white and gold armor, terrible magical might, and rulers of Oni Cities tucked away in pocket planes. They are powerful spirits of Secrets and tower above lesser Oni.
The Ironclad Oni are terrifying three eyed Oni with short horns, pointed ears, blue skin, and short tusks. They have very pronounced eyebrows and are spirits of War. They are the defenders and champions of the Oni and they never close all three of their eyes at once.
The Mountain Oni are hulking creatures with large black beards braided and ending in golding braids, their horns extended upward capped in metal, they wear large loincloths decorated in metal, with as much jewelery they can find. They appear to have no necks, have large sharp teeth and curved tusks. They are spirits of Mountains and are enforcers of the Oni way.
The Stormclad Oni are tall, four-armed, with blue skin, glowing tattoos like lightning burns, and long tails ending in thorns. They have straight horns, long white hair, and can channel electricity. Powerful spirits of Storms.
The Blackserpent Oni are tall, slender, and entirely black save their large glowing red eyes, cloud white manes that bleed into stormy grey, and their yellowed teeth and tusks. Their mouths are too big and filled with broken, gnashing teeth, their chins and heads have many horns. They are spirits of Fear.
The Plenty Oni are large heavy-set Oni the females are almost always heavy with children and can come in the feasting blue or drinking red skin colors. They have straight horns, pronounced tusks, and wear little to nothing. Spirits of Fertility and Feast.
Fugor are strange creatures resembling a mixture of ferret and wolverine with extended tusks brown fur with red-brown markings. They can stand on their hind legs or drop to all fours for increased mobility. Fugor have primitive societies and dwell in the outskirts of Vigint domains often raiding isolated homes for supplies, they generally don’t turn to violence unless cornered or forced too.
Kuro are strange creatures with large sharp teeth, long antenna, sharp claws, long vinelike tails, stiltlike legs ending in sharp points and mossy hair. Kuro are small vicious creatures who form large hives and attack anything that violates their territory.
The Kit are small bipedal cat creatures known for their warrior culture, adorable appearance, and small stature. They wear hand carved masks of Oni, Kappa, and Tengu and carry their small, curved swords tied to their waist, weighted for throwing at larger targets fairly accurate and twisting, twirling, and spinning their blade around them. They are not overly aggressive but raid isolated homes. They live in small homes built into hillsides where entire family lines dwell in burrows. They are not comfortable on all fours but can blend in with normal cats decently if needed. The main identifiable features to distinguish Kit from Cats are their larger more pronounced eyes, longer tails for balance, and slightly extended paws with opposable digits.
The Terasu are large grey skinned creatures they resemble a mixture of man and lion appearing like a mortally wounded man crawling to delay death with large pronounced almost humanoid heads, large tusks, three red mournful eyes, and long tongues. They have large decorative plates around their heads like a lion’s mane. They are powerful spirits of dead, forgotten, and lost places forever mourning the scars left on the world. Lesser Terasu often form like tiny guard dogs around graves of those who have no living ancestors or who have no one left to remember them.
