Cultures of Ithia: The Danadane.

The Danadane people originating from the Lands of Maria, the city state of Dura, forever ruled by the Immortal Sorceress Queen Danalia Dana. Ethnic Danadane have pale skin, green, blue, or falmill colored eyes, black hair often streaked in red, yellow, and blues, and are taller and more muscular than average plains humans. The Danadane have settled in the mideast of the Western half of Dophia. They are the eternal foe of the Magus and they are often in constant small skirmishes with their eastern neighbors.

The Danadane kept their food simple relying on natural local flavors over imported spices and produce. The Danadane make fine baked pastries and fruit tarts. The Danadane live in highly organized, planned, and structured cities where efficiency is held as a high point by their immortal ruler. The Danadane are a clean, strict, and ordered people having been slowly bred and drilled to be the perfect people by the guiding hands of Danalia Dana. The Danadane do not have familiar hierarchies with each generation having to prove their worth to the great sorceress queen to earn status. Though the resources of the previous generations often grant the children of the nobility much higher chances to succeed. The Danadane maintain a small professional military known for their light calvary and heavy infantry supplemented by alchemists. Their main strategy is to charge enemy formations, disrupt them with alchemical grenades, engage their broken lines, and then strike their flanks with calvary.

The Danadane have strict and numerous laws to help shape and maintain the great Sorceress Queen’s ideals. Danadane have set curfews, strict laws on fashion, home maintenance, and education. They maintain a public school system. The Danadane enjoy games that challenge skill, dexterity, wit, and strength. They maintain playhouses, theaters, music halls, and orchestra.

The Danadane believe in Order and Unity pursuing the goals, whims, and dreams of their immortal queen. There is little to no crime, high education standards, and room to rise in society. The Danadane combine the black magic of the Alchemists, cannons, light calvary, and heavy shock troops to engage the much larger forces of their eternal foes the Magus. They avoid using levies unless absolutely needed and maintain small city guard and each noble must maintain a small house guard to protect the city they reside in during siege. Danadane forces are often well protected against magic by the will of the Sorceress Queen making them a powerful force against spellcasters. To encourage martial ability men and women alike are required to learn fencing, hand to hand sparing, wrestling, and horse riding. The Danadane grand palace has exclusively female guards who serve as the Sorceress’ private guard so heavily enchanted that they are almost impervious to all physical injury.

The Danadane export quality wood, shoes, high quality construction tools, mithvalt metal, paper, and printed books. They maintain the largest network of printing presses and have a large amount of paper mills, and they have exclusive contracts with the Hall of Hero, Halls of Magi, Colleges of Arcana, and Colleges of Arts. The Danadane maintain high quality and light weight arms and armor made of Mithreel an iron and Mithvalt alloy. They also provide small amounts of conceptual metals such as Faustium, Iravite, and Cesstium.

The Danadane have no formal alliances but most of their neighbors avoid attacking the Danadane boarders for fear of their Queen. They were free until the Evari marched on them and Markov Hybori defeated their Queen in an arcane duel that left a boarder city an eternally burning pit. The Queen was bound to her tower as Hybori was too weak after their duel to truly kill her. The Danadanes were kept pure Danadane with little subcultures. Since the Evari took over migrations of foreign ethnicities have spread slowly through their lands.
