The Fierian people originating from the Lands of Maria, the city state of La Ville de Pierre, once and currently ruled by the Malidur family. Ethnic Fierian have pale skin, green, blue, or brown eyes, black or brown hair, and are average in height and build for Plains Humans. The Fierian culture has spread out across the south-east of Western Dophia. They are the least prudish culture and were the eternal foe of the Evari empire having fought against the rise of the empire since it took the lands of the Danadane and were the last humans to fight the Empire eventually being forced into its ever verging collapse.
The Fierian have rich heavy foods in small portions. Enjoying butter and cheeses of the finest make. Fierian love to make grand monuments and wonders, and their cities are often beautified to appear all the greater. As lesser nobles rule over sections of cities they are through cultural pressure made to make their sections look the most inviting to grant social status. Knights are highly bound towards the ideals of honor and are conditioned to prefer death to shame. The Fierian maintain the second largest professional military on Dophia.
Fierian have relatively limited laws for restricting common people, but their social rules tend to be intricate and meant as a way of cleanly destroying foes without open bloodshed. The upper classes enjoy games of intrigue, leaving the honor seeking to those further down the lines of heirs who become knights. Fierian’s believe in maintaining rights of man, but the ideal isn’t always maintained outside of the public view. Much of the upper class would make ideal followers of Mire. They have beautiful buildings where even the lowest worker lives in a finely built, and rented, structure meant to show off the benevolence and status of its noble owner. They build tall, beautiful apartments for several families, large mansions, sprawling vineyards, museums, and cathedrals that look to aim to hold up the heavens. They enjoy the finest forms of art and are a haven for the best artists across Ithia. There is a powerful culture towards hiring, collecting, and maintaining artists in noble household retinues. They enjoy intricate forms of theater, Markorathi opera, vast art museums, tinkers, festivals, ballets, orchestras circuses, and zoos owned by the wealthy which they sometimes open to the public as a measure of bread and games. The Fierians also maintain several large arenas for chariot and horse racing.
The Fierians believe in beauty and pursue, use it as a form of status, and if needed leave it hollowed out and superficial. The Fierian kingdoms are powerful having lasted against the Evari when all other free people had fallen. The Fierian’s maintain the second largest martial force on Dophia relying on their fine breeds of war horses on which their heavy calvary dominate most others. Most of their professional army is calvary, mostly heavy, with large amounts of light calvary. They maintain smaller forces of pikemen and archers and can call upon large levies. The access to large supplies of Dwarven metals on the cheap allows the Fierian’s to outfit more of their levies in metal armor efficiently. Lower class men are encouraged to entertain themselves in dueling with quarter staves, archery, and a selection of sports. The upper classes are encouraged to play board games of wit and tactics.
The Fierians maintain sole trade with the Dwar in the Dwar’Vic mountains which being the in-betweens of the Dwar and human trade network have made them extremely wealthy as a nation. The Fierian’s have the finest fashions and are often a large import to other high cultures. There is a much higher mixing of elvish blood in Fierian cultures due to their proximity to the Elven lands. The Fierian’s maintain one of two passes to the Eastern half of Dophia which puts them as one of the few holding back the Orkish tides from the rest of Dophia.
The Fierian maintain their alliances mostly within the two Fierian kingdoms. Though now with the benefits of the Evari Empire have grown complacent under the distant and impotent Emperors. Willing to play the loyal hound if it gives them such lovely bones in turn. The Fierians have large subcultures of Spheric, Dreite, Elven, and Dale people.
