Creatures of Ithia: Sphinxes.

The Sphinx are demi-god children of Dreous and a mixture of human, feline, and avian. With more bestial body structures or outright humanoid ones the Sphinx is a powerful entity with several variations. They were common when the Dreite ruled Dophia but now are rare still being found across Dophia, in the deserts of the Lands of Kain, and in small groups across the plane.

Ascended Sphinxes are large, monstrous, and powerful, having ascended to the status of Pagan Gods to the various bestial races. They are powerful creatures who can warp their domains to some degree. Usually ascended Greater Sphinxes they can rise from any form of Sphinx that can gain enough mortal followers.

Sphinxes are the pure blood children of Dreous, and the eldest of his brood become Greater Sphinxes. They can shift between quadruped and biped forms, human heads, neck, and chests, lion bodies, with large eagle wings. They are powerful beings worshipped by the bestial races and once they gain enough followers, they become Ascended. They can protect the souls of the dead, break the magic that raises undead, and mute pain in the dying.

Dark Sphinxes are Sphinxes are twisted Sphinxes partially corrupted by the will of Haltheris. Not completely tainted they do not fall completely under her control and channel while they have a lot of self-control still, they serve the dark whims of the Mad God.

Lesser Sphinxes are descendants of the Sphinxes mixed blooded with mortal bestial races. They are humanoid, with feline ears, arms, legs, and tail, sporting large wings. They serve as priests to their parent Sphinxes. They are often powerful casters and clergy of Dreous.

Demi-Sphinxes are thin blooded descendants of Lesser Sphinxes almost entirely humanoid with bestial traits going up to their knees and elbows. They have large wings and are the most common of Sphinxes. Still rare they serve the Lesser Sphinxes as handmaidens, servants, and honor guard.

Eastern Sphinxes are not true Sphinxes but are born of beast spirits in ohmage to the great Dreous. They have sleek feline bodies with the head of a human, and delicate horns. They don’t have wings but are revered in Vigint culture. They protect settlements from bad luck, ill omens, and evil spirits.

Luck Sphinxes are the smallest of Sphinx with the bodies of a leopard, feminine heads, and wings too short to fly. They are weak but bring good luck to wherever they stay. Luck Sphinxes are said to be mixed descendants of demi-god children of Dreous and Garon.
