Creatures of Ithia: Goblins

Goblins are a Greenskin species almost exclusively made from plants. They are generally small, weak, and expendable. * The Horde is the large population density of Greenskins who share an empathic link. They cannot feel emotions or thoughts from fellow Greenskins but can feel their presence. Without many Greenskin minds close enough to feel this link, many will feel small and empty, lose focus, and have a drowning sense of anxiety. This sensation will grow until their hearts give out, or they return to a large population.

Common Goblin: These small, weak creatures are made from ferns. They have green flesh and large rat-like ears and are, on average, two and a half feet tall. They serve as mass infantry in the Horde and have little to no sense of self-preservation or sapience. They can not function outside of the Horde. Grey orks, Ogres, and Cyclops can feed them blood to grant sapience.

The Brulin: Made of rose stems or saplings, the Brulin is a large, brutish Goblinoid incapable of much more than simple tasks. They stand five feet tall, sporting large pointed ears, tusks, and flat faces. They make up a large chunk of the ‘dumb’ labor of the Horde. Brulin can be used as expendable troops but are too uncoordinated to be effective. They can not function outside of the Horde.

The Deep Goblin: Made of the strange fungus found deep in caves. The Deep Goblin is larger than the Common Goblin, standing three feet tall with shorter ears and larger eyes. Their blood is bioluminescent, causing their veins to give off a soft light, which allows them to see in the deep dark. Deep Goblins are feral, vicious creatures who can function outside of the Horde.

The Hob: Made of bits of bats and foxes. The Hob stands four to five feet tall and built lean and built for speed save for their giant ears meant to catch sound from long distances. Their voices are also made to carry. Hobs serve as messengers, heralds, and scouts for the Horde. They can function outside of the Horde for limited periods.

The Night Goblin: Made of bits of dart frogs, chameleons, and stick bugs. The Night Goblin is the smallest species of Goblin, standing a foot tall. Small, grubby, and weak. They are light blue with short tails and long ears. They are able to naturally camouflage themselves when not moving and exhale a sleeping toxin. They function outside of the horde and are used to abduct small children to be turned into the Greyskins.

The Goblin Brood Mother: Made of a female goblin fed the blood of Haltheris. The Goblin Broodmother is specially made to produce large litters of Goblinoids. They can generally produce Common Goblins, Night Goblins, Hobs, and Brulin. They stand four feet tall with parchment-colored skin. They can not function outside of the Horde.

The Horned Hob: Made of Rowan ash and a weasel. They stand five feet tall with large horns, pointed ears, and a green freckled complexion. They are lithe, agile, and natural discordmancers. They cannot function outside of the Horde.

The Bugbear: Made of a Brown or Black Bear. These hulking monsters stand seven feet tall and covered in thick muscle and fur. Bugbears are not very creative but can follow orders well and have some natural combat instincts. They can’t function outside of the Horde.

The Bugaboo: Made of a grizzly and Haltheris’ blood. Bugaboos are huge monsters standing nine feet tall—natural war leaders of the Goblinoids. The Bugaboo can overpower anything under the upper-tier trolls. They are relatively rare and highly territorial. Bugaboos can magically transport themselves short distances into a Goblin whose blood they’ve consumed and cast magic using the life forces of their Goblin underlings. Bugaboos can function outside of the Horde.

The Hobgoblin: It is unknown what Hobgoblins are made from. Some say they are the corpses of Gods from past cycles, and others say they are what happens to great heroes when they reincarnate. These tall, reserved, and elite warriors serve as honor guards of Cyclops, generals of the Horde, and ceremonial guards in palaces. They have red or orange skin with blue spots. Their skin color demarks their familiar clans in a perpetual blood war. The Hobgoblins’ focus on clan politics have thankfully kept their interests inwards. They are functional outside of the Horde.
