Writing Worlds with Words

Gods of Ithia: Mealis and Zatolen Makers of Man.

Mealis. Goddess of Purity, Dedication, Crusade, and Chasity.

Known across the plane as Mealis, Mealma, Mikarum, The Lady of Light, Lady of the Crusaders, The Pure One, Mistress of the Purge, The Guiding Light, The Dawn Queen, The Eternal Mercy. Mealis and Zatolen are lovers and eternal foes; humanity was born of their love and was forged by their opposing natures.

Her symbol is the Maiden’s Prayer—two hands are held in prayer, a vine threads between the fingers, and a Lily blooms over the top of the fingers.
The Dread Star—the star Siger surrounded by blackened silhouettes. (for Mealma)

Humanity portrays their mother goddess, Mealis, as a mortally beautiful woman with a freckled face. Her hair is glowing gold curls that halo her like the brilliance of a star running down to the floor. Her eyes smolder like the noon sun. Her mere presence burns the inhuman with searing light and soothes the pain of her beloved children. She grants her divine servants the power to channel searing light, detect intent, cause or suppress pain, and protection magic.

The Greenskins portray her as Mealma, the terrifying celestial ender of worlds. Six wings of burning light with halos of fire crowning her head. She burns all who dare to look upon her and her hideous terror. She does not accept the worship of the Greenskins and grants no power.

The Dragons portray her as Mikarum, a dragon of fire and light like a star upon the world burning around her. There are very few bright dragons; thus, there are too few to manifest powers.

Zatolen. God of Power, Corruption, and Deviancy.

Known across the plane as Zatolen, Troskraam, Dakou, Ziamvikosis, The Dark Lord, God of Strings, The Giver of Rings, The Champion of the Fates, The Chief of the Gods, The Falling Star, The Ascendant, The Scarlet Dragon, The Sun Breaker, and The Skysheer. Zatolen was a mortal soul from the last Cycle who clawed out of the void, dragging Ondra with him. He crushed the life from Tormoth with his bare hands and took his divine domains.

His symbol is the Horned Cross—a vertical line crossed by a small crescent at the bottom and a longer line at the top, which resembles an inversely proportioned anchor.

Humanity portrays him as Zatolen, a marble-white human with long black hair that bleeds into shadow, creating a smog-like haze behind him. His burning scarlet eyes burn like the death throes of a collapsing star. He has a well-maintained and finely lined goatee. He grants his divine followers the power to channel negative energy and empower the body, spirit, and mind.

The Greenskins portray him as Troskraam, a six-armed ogre with large tusks. Gem-eyed skulls hang from a leather belt, and his body is covered in piercings and golden jewelry. He is the only god good-humored enough to appear in this form to the Greenskins. He grants his divine servants the power to channel fire and empower the body, spirit, and mind.

The Dreites portray him as Dakou, a powerfully built jackal-headed man adorned in iron and bronze jewelry. He is branded in the ancient runes of the Dreites from before their civilization was broken. He grants his divine servants the power to channel necrotic energy, manipulate shadows, shed blood, and protect them from binding magic.

The Dragons portray him as Ziamvikosis, a massive three-headed dragon with scales of scarlet and shadow. This great dragon waits in eternal sleep for a worthy challenge for the God of Power. Dragons do not need divine gifts and receive none.
